A Gem of an Idea: Local Business Donates Proceeds to COVID-19 Fund

State Street Jewelers in Geneva has responded generously to the COVID-19 crisis by – naturally – selling fine jewelry.

Through May 31, the local business is donating 10 percent of proceeds to the Fox Valley Grantmakers COVID-19 Response Fund as part of its Memorial Day Sale. The company has a treasured history of supporting community organizations and quickly took note of the Fund’s intent to meet COVID-related needs on a local level.

State Street Jewelers is located at the corner of State and Third Streets. Founded in 1952, it’s known for its luxury brands, custom design services, and shopping experience. More information can be found at www.statestreetjewelers.com.

The Fox Valley Grantmakers COVID-19 Response Fund was created as a collaboration between Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation, Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, Dunham Fund, Fox Valley United Way, and INC Board. The Fund provides rapid-response grants to nonprofits in the greater Fox Valley region meeting emergency needs related to food, shelter, healthcare, mental health, and other social services. We chose the Community Foundation because of its reputation. It’s well known, established and we can trust them to do the job for us.

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

Sharon Stredde

President Emeritus

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
