Mrs. Bryant (1904-2002) was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church where she served as a nurse’s aide. She also was involved in the missionary work of the church. Mrs. Bryant had no children of her own, but she was called “Mother” by those she knew. According to friends, Mrs. Bryant had a deep respect for higher education and had often expressed her personal wish for that opportunity. Her bequest to the Foundation was her way of providing to future generations the one dream that had eluded her in life. Read more…

The Holy Angels Food Pantry Fund was created to support the Holy Angels Food Pantry in Aurora. The pantry has distributed food and other needed supplies to thousands of local citizens. The principal of the fund is available to assist the mission of this vital community resource. Read more…

In an article posted September 21, 2015, the Fox Valley Labor News reports that Community Foundation scholarship recipient Jimmy Tunney is attending Marymount California University. Tunney was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the Woodruff Johnson & Palermo Labor Scholarship earlier this year.  He is studying accounting and playing baseball for the school's team. In an article released on September 10, 2015, U.S. News and World Report cited the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley as an industry leader in providing numerous scholarships to local students. In 2004, five separate endowment accounts were created to serve the various ministries of the church: Capital Account, Education Account, Mission Account, Music Account and Youth Account. The Capital Account was funded with the proceeds in the original fund and continues to support the capital needs of the church. Read more…

This fund, created in 1995 to honor the life of Brian Farnham, was established as an endowment in 2005. Brian Farnham (1977-1993) attended Our Lady of Good Counsel School until the eighth grade. He participated in Cub Scouts at the school and was an avid basketball and football player. Read more…

The For Scout Foundation has been created by the Cantrell Family, of St. Charles, IL, to honor the life and legacy of their beloved daughter and sister, Scout Cantrell (2004-2014). This fund provides income for the Community Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking program.  Charles George Whinfrey, Jr. (1923-2005) was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was raised in New Jersey.  Mrs. Whinfrey (1925-2013) was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
