Community Foundation Awards Corbella Clinic $5,000 Grant.

Corbella Clinic, a non-profit pregnancy medical clinic located in South Elgin, was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. The grant helped the Clinic create an updated, contemporary atmosphere, that meets the needs of the young women and couples it serves of the millennial generation. Approximately 1500 clients are served each year, and while all ages are welcome, the average age of the clients that come to the clinic is 18 – 25.

Corbella Clinic strives to meet the needs of the whole person – intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical. It is important that when they enter the clinic, they feel welcome and comfortable. Women and couples experience friendship, encouragement and hope – giving them the support needed to make a life-affirming decision for their unborn children. During pregnancy and for two years after birth, parents may participate in an education incentive program where they meet regularly with a mentor for prenatal and parenting education and training. In addition, their time and commitment to the program earns them the ability to shop in the Corbella Store, where they choose from free items such as diapers, formula, baby clothes, car seats and much more. The store is stocked with brand new items donated by local community members.

Executive Director Jeanna Desideri explains, “The greatest reward of the grant funds is seeing the impact our Clinic’s new appearance has on our clients. Many clients comment to us about how warm, welcoming, peaceful and relaxing the Clinic is for them. It’s a place where they feel loved and at home.” We are so grateful to be one of the recipients of the Community Foundation’s grant funds this year.”

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
