Glenwood School for Boys and Girls was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. The grant will facilitate air conditioning repairs for residential cottages on the Glenwood Rathje Campus. Glenwood applied for the grant in June 2008 and was approved in August.

Glenwood School for Boys and Girls is the only community supported non-profit organization in the Midwest that offers disadvantaged children a residential, education and life-skills program to help them overcome difficult family and community circumstances and achieve a better life and future.

With campuses in Glenwood, Illinois, and St. Charles, Illinois, Glenwood has the capacity to serve approximately 300 at-risk children, ages 7 to 18, whose lives and futures have been threatened by issues such as loss of a parent due to death, divorce, or substance abuse, along with poverty, gangs and violence.

The children Glenwood serves come from more than 60 communities in the Chicagoland and Fox Valley areas. For more information about Glenwood, please visit www.glenwoodschool.org.

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is a non-profit philanthropic corporation that administers individual charitable funds and distributes grants and scholarships to benefit the citizens of the Greater Aurora Area, the TriCities and Kendall County Illinois.

There’s no question in my mind that the scholarship I received opened up possibilities.

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

Sharon Stredde

President Emeritus

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.
