Habitat for Humanity Grateful for Truck

In a world of constant need and burdens the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is a beacon in the darkness. Through the generosity of many donors, scholarships and grants are given each year totaling in the millions of dollars, for people and organizations providing help and opportunity in the Fox Valley community.

Recently, the Community Foundation awarded Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity a $10,000.00 grant and we want to express our extreme appreciation. In early spring of this year Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity opened a ReStore, a store for used and often new building materials, cabinets, appliances, lighting, furniture, tools etc. These items are donated to us and we resell the items to raise funds to build homes for people in need. The $10,000.00 awarded will be used to buy a used truck which will allow us to go to homes and businesses and pick up product that we can then sell in the store.

The purchase of this truck would not be possible without the Community Foundation. Our thanks to Neal Ormond – Chairman of the Board, Sharon Stredde – President and CEO, and the Board of Directors. Because of their great work they are making it possible for many families to receive homes for years to come. Fox Valley Habitat thanks them for making a difference here in our own community.

With Gratitude,

Thank you very much for supporting my college education for these four years. I will never be able to repay you for the opportunity that this scholarship has given to me.

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

We chose the Community Foundation because of its reputation. It’s well known, established and we can trust them to do the job for us.

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
