We are very sad to announce the passing of Kenneth F. Lindgren, a long-time supporter of the Community Foundation.
Mr. Lindgren passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009 after succumbing to a courageous battle with cancer.
Ken Lindgren (1940-2009) was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and spent his early years in Glenview, Illinois.
His family moved to Aurora, Illinois in 1949. He was a 1958 graduate of West Aurora High School and a 1963 graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
In 1967, he joined his father in the company business, DACO Incorporated. He eventually achieved the position of CEO/President of the company.
Mr. Lindgren served as a board member of the Aurora Family YMCA, Heritage YMCA Group and Old Second National Bank.
He also was a member of the New England Congregational Church in Aurora.
Mr. Lindgren’s wife, Hedy K. Lindgren, is a director of the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, New England Congregational Church (www.newenglandchurch.org) or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
Contributions to the Community Foundation may be made to the fund of the donor’s choosing. The following funds reflect Mr. Lindgren’s charitable interests:
