Mission Possible Receives $13,600 Community Foundation of FRV Grant

Aurora, December 2, 2014: The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley recently awarded a $13,600 grant that will expand the ability of Mission Possible to provide free healthcare to the uninsured. These valuable resources will enable this downtown Aurora Christian ministry to purchase new equipment for their vision and dental clinics. Visual field testing equipment will be added to help detect glaucoma and macular degeneration. A new dental autoclave will replace an outdated model. Additional small dental equipment will support the recent addition of a second dental chair.

Through more than 18,000 volunteer hours since inception in February 2012, Mission Possible has provided over 2200 healthcare visits valued at $451,000 and roughly 8000 recovery related visits. Due to recent growth, Mission Possible found it necessary to separate their healthcare and recovery services. The new Christian Recovery Fellowship Hall is now located in the adjacent space at 61 S. Broadway. They celebrated with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on November 1.

Individuals, who do not have any type of insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, disability, veterans, or other governmental health care assistance, are welcome at Mission Possible. Free health care services include: medical, vision, dental, chiropractic, physical and occupational therapy. Eligible individuals may schedule appointments by calling 630-801-0086. Expect a three-month wait for the vision clinic and up to one year for dental care. Demand is high for these urgent services!

Mission Possible is a privately funded independently governed 501(c) 3 dedicated to holistically meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in Aurora in Christ’s name. Donations from organizations like the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley enable volunteers to meet many critical needs. To learn more about Mission Possible, go to www.onjesusmission.org.

Being a part of the Community Foundation scholarship committee is the highlight of my year. For many, a scholarship from the CFFRV is the reason they are able to continue reaching for their dreams and changing the future of our world. I hope each recipients knows just how inspirational they are to those of us who are lucky enough to read their stories.

Grant funds from the Community Foundation helped provide updated technology. These upgrades were transformative. By creating new time saving processes, it turned us into a more efficient organization.

I am incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Zari Foundation Scholarship and the Community Foundation in supporting my education. I am majoring in mechanical engineering with a concentration in aerospace engineering at the Rose-Hulman Institue of Technology. In my spare time, I volunteer on campus, in the community and I’m also the principal violist in the symphony orchestra. I hope to make an impact on the next chapter of space exploration by eventually working at a groundbreaking aerospace company such as SpaceX or NASA.

Education is important to us. We support causes that touch our lives and align with our values. We believe in paying it forward. We are here for a short time,, and it is the next generation that will take on what we leave behind.

YEP was a great experience to have in high school. I became a more confident person, someone with a lot more perspective. Coming from a small school, YEP allowed me to branch out into my community, meet students from other schools, and learn about their backgrounds. I made some great friends and still keep in touch with them today.

YEP has made me realize the importance of being involved in my community, and how to make a difference. There are a lot of problems in the world but if we can do everything that we can to help the world will become a better place. YEP has helped me realize this and encouraged me to help more people in the future.
