Presence Mercy Medical Center Receives $18,000 Grant from Community Foundation of Fox River Valley

Aurora, IL – Look for a little more sparkle and shine at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of Fox River Valley. The hospital was able to purchase two new floor scrubbers with an $18,200 grant provided by the Community Foundation.

“Providing a clean, safe and pleasant environment at the hospital is of the utmost importance,” said Joyce Ocasio, Manager of Housekeeping, Presence Mercy Medical Center. “We can’t say enough about how appreciative we are to the Community Foundation of Fox River Valley for making it possible for us to purchase two of the top-of-the-line floor scrubbers. The new equipment has helped us provide the highest quality of care and comfort for our patients.”

According to Ocasio, the Chariot 3 iScrub 26 is two-times more productive than the older walk behind models and it has full circle visibility for operator safety. It is easy to transport around the hospital and optimizes productivity by lengthening the times between recharging and refilling.

“We were able to change schedules and increase areas assigned to staff. The Chariot is also quieter on the in patient floors which is a patient and staff satisfier,” said Ocasio.

With family-friendly, patient-centered features like new private rooms and a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center, Presence Mercy Medical Center is positively impacting the health of Fox River Valley communities. Offering 293 licensed beds and more than 450 physicians, Presence Mercy provides advanced services in cardiology, cancer care, behavioral health, GI, diabetes care, orthopedics, and maternal/child health. As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
