The Donald A. & Irene V. Campbell Memorial Endowment Fund was created by a bequest from the estate of Irene V. Campbell (1918-2019) to provide annual distributions to the Fox Valley Animal Welfare League. Donald Campbell (1913-1985) was born in Hoopeston, Illinois, yet lived most of his life in Chicago. Mr. Campbell worked for the United States Ordnance Department as a government inspector. Mrs. Campbell was raised on a farm on the corner of Routes 34 and 59 in Naperville. She graduated from Naperville High School in 1935 and from Trook’s Business School in Downers Grove. Mrs. Campbell was an administrative assistant for several businesses until her retirement in 1980. In 1943, she received her private pilot’s license. She joined the Civil Air Patrol and was invited to become a member of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots, whose first president was Amelia Earhart. After her husband’s death, Mrs. Campbell was an active volunteer for the Fox Valley Animal Welfare League.
