The Kathleen Ann McCalla Memorial Fund provides grants for anti-smoking educational programs that will benefit the students of West Aurora High School. The fund was created by Kathleen’s mother, three sisters, friends and co-workers.
Kathleen McCalla (1949-2005) was a 1967 graduate of West Aurora High School. She was an active participant in the gymnastics program while a student at the school. She was employed by the Federal Aviation Agency in Aurora for twenty-one years.
According to her family, a memorial fund was established out of concern for the health and welfare of students who are not aware of the serious hazards of smoking. It is the intention of this fund to bring innovative programs to the high school that will significantly impact the decisions students must make in this important area of their lives.
Kathleen will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love of family. She also will be remembered for the legacy she leaves for the benefit of others.
