The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley Awards Grant to Provena Mercy Medical Center

The Provena Mercy Medical Center Foundation has been given a generous grant from The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley.   The $25,000 grant supports Provena Mercy Medical Center’s Centennial Capital Project Fund for the room renovation and privatization project.

With an expected completion date of late 2012, Provena Mercy Medical Center’s Room Renovation and Privatization Project will maximize space, modernize units and make our patient’s stay as comfortable and conducive to healing as possible.  All medical/surgical patient rooms will receive a complete make-over featuring several upgrades.

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley has generously supported Provena Mercy Medical Center in the past and their generosity is an example of the hospital’s reliance upon philanthropy and kindness of others to assure the highest quality of comfort and care for the Fox Valley communities.

“Our ability to care for others has been greatly supplemented by the giving of the time, talent and treasure of others,” stated Susan Mennenga, Executive Director of Provena Mercy Medical Center Foundation.   “We are so very grateful to The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley for their support of this project and our overall mission to serve those in need.”

Provena Mercy Medical Center is a 315-bed hospital based in Aurora.  With more than 400 physicians on staff, 1,200 employees and 300 volunteers, Provena Mercy is known for providing leading-edge care and technologies to the communities they serve.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.
