“A History of School District 129” Now Available on DVD!

The Community Foundation’s historic video,  “A History of West Aurora School District 129,” is now available on DVD!  This comprehensive study of the school district covers the years 1836-2015.

Sharon Stredde, our president emeritus, researched the background for this production and authored the script. Neal Ormond, the Community Foundation’s former chairman of the board, is the narrator of the video.  The A+ Foundation and its president Frank Voris provided direction and review of the video’s contents.

The 55-minute DVD can be purchased at the Aurora Historical Society’s Museum Store, located in the David L. Pierce Art and History Center at 20 East Downer Place, Aurora, 60505.  The price is $19.95, plus tax.  Historical society members receive a 10% discount.  Store hours are Wednesdays-Saturdays from Noon-4pm.  For more information, please call the Aurora Historical Society at 630-907-0650.

The Community Foundation is pleased to have taken the lead role in preserving this history. We trust the viewers will enjoy learning more about the wonderful traditions of School District 129. Our sincere thanks goes to the Aurora Historical Society for its research assistance and its willingness to serve the community and West alumni by placing the video in its store.

We chose the Community Foundation because of its reputation. It’s well known, established and we can trust them to do the job for us.

Richard and Susan Schindel Scholarship Funds

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.
