YEP Member Highlight: Julia

As YEP kicks off, we would like to feature our members throughout the year. Our first student spotlight on our YEP Chair, Julia. She is from St. Charles and is a senior at Rosary High School (Aurora, IL).

Why did you want to be a part of YEP?
“I wanted to find a way to help the local community that went beyond just my school community. YEP has allowed me to achieve this through a variety of service projects that benefit nonprofits and through our grant making process which directly impacts the youth in our Fox River Valley area.”

Why is it important to you to make a difference in the community?
“It is important for me to make a difference in the community because I want to give back to others. I want to ensure that other youth in our community are able to experience opportunities that allow them to follow their passions and discover themselves.”

How do you feel about helping other youth in the community?
“I feel that helping the youth in our community is a necessary action. Personally, it allows me to take time during my day to prioritize others, recognize the need in our community, and learn the perspective of other individuals.”

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

Cris Anderson

Cristina & Thomas S. Anderson Endowment Fund | Tom & Cris Anderson Colonial Advisory Fund

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
