This fund was created upon the termination of the Justus L. Johnson Trust in 1994. Income from the fund is available for the unrestricted use of the Foundation.
Mr. Johnson (1879-1956) was the Foundation’s first vice-president. He served as editor of the Aurora Beacon in the early 1900’s, and later was elected clerk of the Circuit Court of Kane County and the Appellate Court for the Second District of Illinois.
In 1965, the Foundation received a generous bequest from his wife, Grace Hobbs Johnson (1878-1958).
Mrs. Johnson studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, founded the Mid-West Early American Pressed Glass Club, and maintained memberships in the Hawthorne Club and the Tuesday Garden Club.
