The Judith E. Bunch Scholarship Endowment Fund was established by Judith Bunch for the purpose of supporting student excellence in academics, particularly in the study of English. Additional consideration will be given to a student who expresses an interest in teaching English in the future.
Judith taught English at West Aurora High School for many years and was beloved and respected by her students and colleagues. She was committed to serving the school community outside the classroom as well, serving as a sponsor of the WA Pom squad, co-sponsor of National Honor Society, and advisor to commencement speakers. In each of these roles, she held her students to the highest of standards, knowing that students would represent themselves and West Aurora with distinction.
Judith was the recipient of the Kane County Distinguished Educator Award as well as The Golden Apple Award, Aurora West Public Schools. Such recognition was the result of her commitment to the art of teaching, which she defined her entire career. Her dynamic and thought-provoking classes were the result of her curiosity and hard work outside the classroom.
This scholarship carries with it the passion for teaching and learning that Judith Bunch demonstrated for her entire career. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a graduating senior from West Aurora High school with a minimum of a 3.5 GPA, a member of National Honor Society, and, as mentioned above, an interest in teaching English.
