Spring Lake Cemetery Historic Preservation Endowment Fund was established to fulfill the fund advisors’ charitable purposes and to maintain, beautify, and preserve the Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora, Illinois. Additional purposes of the fund are to:
- provide an educational benefit to the general public and promote an appreciation
for community history by maintaining, repairing, and restoring monuments, headstones,
and grave markers of historical or architectural significance to the community; - combat community deterioration and provide aesthetic enjoyment for the
community, by preserving, beautifying, and maintaining abandoned or deteriorating
graves of deceased persons and the cemetery in general, focusing on areas open to the
public or the public’s view and for the care and replacement of trees, flowers,
shrubbery, and lawns, including removal and replacement of diseased trees; and - lessen the burdens of governing by maintaining semi-public areas where
maintenance would otherwise be the responsibility of the government or municipality,
including repairs to roads, etc.
