Anna Oelerich Joins Community Foundation Team

AURORA [July 20, 2018] – The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, a philanthropic leader within the southern Kane and Kendall County communities, is proud to welcome Anna Oelerich as its new Communications Associate. Oelerich will primarily serve in the Foundation’s Geneva office, and will extend its mission by crafting a comprehensive communications plan that further engages members of the community.

Oelerich comes to the Community Foundation after completing several successful communications internships and freelance projects. Most recently, Oelerich worked as an independent contractor for Nichicon America Corporation in Schaumburg, an electronic components supplier that specializes in the manufacturing of aluminum electrolytic capacitors. In addition to writing and editing press releases and in-house material, she helped establish the company as an industry expert through a series of entertaining and informative sales videos, a first for organizations in that field.

In the nonprofit sector, Oelerich has utilized the power of storytelling to connect donors with the impact of their giving. During her internship with United Way of Elgin, she implemented the “Success Stories” portion of UWE’s annual report to share how generous donations created positive, lasting change in the community. She used similar engagement strategies during her internship with Fox Valley United Way. There, she created a social media campaign that increased online engagement, provided charitable giving statistics, thanked constituents for their time and talents, and educated the community about the organization.

Oelerich graduated magna cum laude this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Writing from Taylor University, where several of her assignments were later published in local publications.

“Having grown up in the community and served several charitable organizations within our service area, Anna has been a lifelong champion of philanthropy and supporter of non-profits,” said Jeff Hartman, Community Foundation’s president and CEO. “I look forward to having her expand the Foundation’s footprint by communicating the vital stories of our grantees and scholarship recipients, as well as the services the Foundation offers to the community.”

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

[Renewing Scholarship Recipient] Graduate of Hinkley-Big Rock High School

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
