Meet Nicholas Richard-Thompson, Communications Coordinator for the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs, City of Aurora. “It is imperative to work towards well-being for all and a world where everyone’s needs are addressed and met. And that begins with getting involved and serving, being a part of something greater than the individual. Serving has provided me purpose, clarity, and discipline. Building foundations for posterity allows me to serve the movement to build the individual will to sacrifice for the collective good.” Nick’s advice for YEP members, “Remain resolute and steadfast in your beliefs and principles; join organizations working towards the world you envision; serve to your capacity, and turn mere sympathy for people and causes into solidarity with people and causes.”

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college.
