The AEEF will once again be participating in the National Day of Giving, also known as Giving Tuesday, which is scheduled annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. This 24-Hour Fundraising Event raised over $2.5B throughout the entire nation last year. Help us Celebrate Education in Aurora and join us in person if you are able on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, for an evening of food, drink, and fellowship. Entry and food are free, and by hosting our annual Giving Tuesday event, we hope to bring awareness to our Foundation and raise funds for our students and staff on the East Side.

Over the last seven years, the AEEF has been able to provide over $320,000 in Scholarships for Students and Mini-Grants for Teachers w/in EASD 131 and assisted D131 in securing over $1,241,000 in grant funds. The mini-grant award program has been well received by teachers and staff throughout the entire district, and the scholarship program has grown dramatically on an annual basis.

A record number of 32 scholarships totaling $56,000 were awarded to deserving EA Grads in the Spring of 2022. The 3 tiers of the AEEF Scholarship Program comprise: Students Pursuing a Degree in Education, High Achieving Students who have Excelled Academically throughout their High School Career, and Students Pursuing a path w/in a Career and Technical Education field of study.

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.

We chose the Community Foundation because of its reputation. It’s well known, established and we can trust them to do the job for us.

Richard and Susan Schindel Scholarship Funds

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.
