The Humane Society of Aurora (HSA) was established in 2015. Later that year, HSA created a fund through the Community Foundation to support their mission of working in partnership with Aurora Animal Control and Care to increase adoptions and rescues, improve shelter conditions, and to educate and assist the community in responsible pet ownership.
The Humane Society of Aurora is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization. Working with the staff of Aurora Animal Control and Care, the volunteers of HSA establish enrichment programs, participate in special events (including the Aurora Farmer’s Market), and provide educational tours of Aurora Animal Control and Care to Scout troops and classrooms. HSA will also provide financial assistance for an animal’s medical care outside of the normal care provided by Aurora Animal Control and Care.
