John Masus Memorial Scholarship Fund

Est. 2017

Originally the Masus Financial Group Scholarship Fund, the fund was renamed the John Masus Memorial Scholarship Fund as a memorial to John Masus at the time of his passing.

The Fund supports scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reside within the 60510 zip code in Kane County. Students must be attending a four-year college or university on a full-time basis. Preference will be given to students who are pursuing finance or economics.

About Masus Financial Group

Founder John Masus first opened the doors to Masus Financial Group in April of 1993. Located in the Tower Business Center building in historic downtown Batavia, Illinois, Masus Financial Group began as a one-employee firm, inside of a one-room office.

Determined to grow his zero-client roster, John began to conduct educational seminars at libraries throughout the Fox Valley area. His ongoing seminars and support encouraged referrals, and Masus Financial Group began to grow. In 1998, John’s son Todd achieved his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER CFP designation, and joined his father’s firm. The family-owned and operated business continued to attract new clients, and expanded to include a full staff of dedicated planning professionals.

In 2015, Masus Financial Group became Independent Registered Investment Advisors (RIA), through LPL Financial. This newfound industry status has allowed Masus Financial Group to continue to grow, and offer objective financial guidance that is in the best interest of the individuals and families they serve.

Today, Masus Financial Group is located in a beautiful converted windmill factory that dates back to 1855, with views of the Fox River. We have come a long way since first opening our doors back in 1993. Now that you know our past, we welcome you to become a part of our story as a firm, moving forward.

Thank you very much for supporting my college education for these four years. I will never be able to repay you for the opportunity that this scholarship has given to me.

Julia H.

[Renewing Scholarship Recipient] Graduate of Hinkley-Big Rock High School

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.
