Bequest Received to Support Fox Valley Animal Welfare League

The Community Foundation of the Fox Valley recently received a bequest from the estate of Irene V. Campbell (1918-2019) to create the Donald A. & Irene V. Campbell Memorial Endowment Fund which will provide annual distributions to the Fox Valley Animal Welfare League.  Donald Campbell (1913-1985) was born in Hoopeston, Illinois, yet lived most of his life in Chicago.  Mr. Campbell worked for the United States Ordnance Department as a government inspector.  Mrs. Campbell was raised on a farm on the corner of Routes 34 and 59 in Naperville.  She graduated from Naperville High School in 1935 and from Trook’s Business School in Downers Grove.  Mrs. Campbell was an administrative assistant for several businesses until her retirement in 1980.  In 1943, she received her private pilot’s license.  She joined the Civil Air Patrol and was invited to become a member of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots, whose first president was Amelia Earhart.  After her husband’s death, Mrs. Campbell was an active volunteer for the Fox Valley Animal Welfare League.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.

Thank you very much for supporting my college education for these four years. I will never be able to repay you for the opportunity that this scholarship has given to me.

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.
