Roof Replacement

Pregnancy Information Center (PIC), a local nonprofit organization, was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. PIC works to empower women and men to make life affirming choices for themselves and their families through education, spiritual encouragement and limited medical services. This is done by providing confidential and compassionate services to any women who may find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy. The award from the Community Foundation is a matching grant toward the cost of replacing the roof on their building.

PIC sees women 14 years old to 40 coming to them for pregnancy testing, education or support. A variety of services which include ultrasound, option counseling, material support-even through post-delivery, referrals, and parenting classes are available at no cost to the client. Because it is not only the woman that is impacted by what happens, support groups have been started for the grandparents that may find themselves as primary caregivers and for the new fathers-to-be.

PIC Executive Director Beverly Callison said, “We are so thankful and excited over this announcement. It means that during this time of increased demand for services, we will not have to pull monies from the programs and cut services in order to fix the roof.”

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley is a non-profit philanthropic organization that administers individual charitable funds from which grants and scholarships are distributed to benefit the citizens of the Greater Aurora Area, the TriCities and Kendall County Illinois. A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

Sharon Stredde

President Emeritus

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
