TriCity Family Services (TCFS) would like to express gratitude to the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley for awarding us $15,000.   We will use the funds to replace 15-year-old carpeting and flooring in common areas and wallpaper in client washrooms at our Geneva facility.  These improvements are needed due to wear and tear and safety concerns for the thousands of clients we serve annually.

Our experienced TCFS therapists provide quality, family-centered, behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults, and their families in the Mid Fox River Valley.  We help children and teens work through individual challenges such as: conflict with other family members, problems interacting with peers, disruptive behavior, substance abuse, physical or sexual abuse and depression.  TCFS also specializes in personalized individual or couples counseling for adults, addressing issues like depression, marital discord, grief, divorce, domestic violence, parenting, stress, communication problems, sexual abuse and anxiety/phobias.  We also run a group therapy program for women, and a group for children K-5 designed to help them build social skills.

TCFS staff is active in community outreach and also develop and deliver many prevention and early intervention workshops for children, adolescents, and adults.  These interactive workshops on a wide range of mental health and wellness topics are given in schools and churches and other locations.  However, most of the individual and family counseling for community residents and employee assistance for participating local businesses take place at our 1120 Randall Court facility.  Many group workshops also take place at our office such as:  Superstars Successful Social Skills for Kids, Smart Choices K-5 Anger Management workshops for elementary school-aged children, I-C.A.N. Adult Anger Management workshops, Postpartum Depression / Anxiety Support Group for Women, and our Parent and Support Education series.

We served 3,366 clients and their family members in fiscal year 2008 for a grand total of 30,381 client hours of service.  We are able to offer our services on a sliding scale through donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, Community Chest, United Way, church and community groups, and state and local governments.  More information about our programs is available on our website at www.tricityfamilyservices.org or by calling 630-232-1070.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the Community Foundation for their continued support of our mission.  We appreciate their confidence in our ability to continue to provide unique and beneficial services to this community.

There’s no question in my mind that the scholarship I received opened up possibilities.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

We chose the Community Foundation because of its reputation. It’s well known, established and we can trust them to do the job for us.

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.
