Visiting Nurse Association of Fox Valley has been awarded a $25,000 grant by the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. The Community Foundation is a charitable foundation in Aurora and provides grants to nonprofit organizations in the Fox River Valley. VNA of Fox Valley is a nonprofit community health care organization and will use the funds toward the purchase of an ultrasound machine for the VNA Health Center.

The machine will allow VNA to perform on-site breast ultrasound testing for women determined by their physician to need a more specific test following a mammogram. VNA anticipates performing about 2,700 tests annually with the new machine. The equipment will compliment VNA’s digital mammography services available at the VNA Health Center, 400 N. Highland Ave. in Aurora. Patients from VNA Health Center in Elgin will also be referred to the Aurora location for testing.

Currently, VNA Health Center offers free mammograms and pap tests to uninsured women through the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. For more information, visit www.vnafoxvalley.org orwww.cffrv.org. Call 630-892-4355 to make an appointment at VNA.

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.

Thank you very much for supporting my college education for these four years. I will never be able to repay you for the opportunity that this scholarship has given to me.

Julia H.

[Renewing Scholarship Recipient] Graduate of Hinkley-Big Rock High School

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.
