Community Foundation Funds Technology Initiative For Family Focus

Aurora, IL— In December 2015, Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley generously approved Family Focus $10,000 to complete a long-awaited technology investment. Family Focus is pleased to announce the second phase of the technology investment project was installed on August 5, 2016. Under the guidance of Mr. Charles Johnson, Family Focus’ Director of Technology and Facilities, the old phone system was replaced and Family Focus Aurora is now equipped with a new IP phone system that will reduce the length of time needed to connect with and respond to participants and increase access to voice mail and phone on and off site which is especially important for our many outreach and home visiting staff. This technology improvement will improve workflow in the reception area and increase efficiency of staff time by ease of use in the system. Our staff will be more accessible to the participants with whom they work because this system connects participants easily to the program they are seeking. This investment was necessary because of the high volume of calls at the Family Focus Aurora center. Staff training was completed on September 14th in order to maximize the utility of the system. Mariana Osoria, Vice President of Centers, says “Staff are excited about the new technology and added features that will get participants to the right program staff more efficiently, making responding to community needs smoother and quicker.” Family Focus is grateful for the support of the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and proudly acknowledges their generosity.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
